On the Measurement

I am fascinated by the idea of measurement. I think that  the ability to measure something of interest up to some accuracy or level of certainty is the basic form of knowing something. It is fascinating being able to say with some level of certainty something about an object of interest while also still not super sure of yourself about that aspect of the object.

For example, because you can measure how fast you walk, if you took care to measure your walking/driving time to a location, that can allow you to have a good idea of how long it takes to get there under normal walking or driving conditions which can be used to estimate arrival time at the place. You have created a new knowledge, how long it takes you to get to a place just because you measured, but it still have to include limits on accuracy of the measurement. For example sometimes you meet a friend and talk or move slower or there is unusually high traffic on the road. If you had other measurements available or more measurements for example, you can have a function of time which specify  the time it takes during peak traffic hours and the time it takes otherwise.

A measurement creates information and allows a person to summarize an event or object
